ASTER terms of licensing and updating

There are different types of licenses for ASTER software:

ASTER Pro-X license - a perpetual license where X is the number of seats:

  • The license is perpetual license.
  • You can increase the number of seats by activating additional Pro-X licenses but no more than 12 seats on one PC (see details below).
  • License is transferable to other equipment after deactivation.
  • Activation or transfer to another PC can only be done as a whole - partial activation on multiple computers is not supported.

ASTER Annual-X license - a license valid for 1 year, where X is the number of seats:

  • It is an annual subscription. meaning that to continue using it after the expiration of 1 year, a new Pro or Annual-X license needs to be purchased and activated.
  • You can increase the number of seats by activating additional Annual-X licenses but no more than 12 seats on one PC (see details below).
  • License is transferable to other equipment after deactivation.
  • Activation or transfer to another PC can only be done as a whole - partial activation on multiple computers is not supported.

After activating the license key, it is linked to the HWID of the equipment (consists of the serial numbers of the HDD or SSD on which the Windows operating system and CPU are installed) and is saved on the server. In the future, the activated license key can only be used on the PC on which it was activated. To restore the license (for example, after reinstalling Windows), it is enough to activate ASTER with the same key.

Since the ASTER license is linked to specific physical devices from the moment of activation, a deactivation procedure is provided to allow users to replace these devices or computers without losing their license. Any other equipment can be changed without losing the license. To restore the license after reinstalling Windows, for example, simply activate ASTER with the same key.

Combining Pro-X licenses (perpetual increase in the number of workplaces)

To increase the number of worplaces, you need to activate one or more additional Pro-X licenses on your PC. The number of workplaces will then equal the sum of the numbers in the license name (X), but will not exceed 12. For instance, to add eight workplaces, you must purchase and activate Pro-6 and Pro-2 licenses.

Combination of Pro-X and ANNUAL-X licenses (increase in the number of workplaces for 1 year)

You can combine Pro-X and ANNUAL-X licenses to increase the number of workplaces for one year. For instance, if you already have an activated Pro-3 license and want five workplaces for one year, you must purchase and activate an additional ANNUAL-2 license for two workplaces.

Combination of ANNUAL-X licenses (increase in the number of workstations for the duration of the license or extension of the license)

When combining ANNUAL-X licenses, if the numbers in the license names differ, the number of workplaces will equal the sum of those numbers. When one of the licenses expires, the number of workplaces provided by the remaining licenses will remain the same. For example, if you have already activated ANNUAL-4 and purchase and activate an additional ANNUAL-2 license, six workplaces will be created.

If the numbers (X) in the ANNUAL-X license names are the same, such as two ANNUAL-2 licenses, then when activating the second license, you can choose to either increase the number of workplaces to four or extend the current license's validity period. If you choose to extend the license's validity period, the new validity period will equal the remaining validity period increased by one year.

Help and tips

A license cannot be split into multiple licenses. For instance, you cannot convert a Pro-6 into three separate Pro-2s.

Updating the program is free. Purchasing a new license or reactivation is not required.
